What is Every Child a Talker?
Many children have long term speech and language difficulties which affect their success, both socially and academically.
Research shows children who are identified early (and receive support) are more likely to catch up with their peers.
The government have set up a two year scheme called 'Every Child a Talker' (ECaT). ECat will provide training and support to those working with young children on early years language development.
Aims of ECaT:
* Raise children's achievements in early language
* Raise practitioners' skills and knowledge
* Increase parental understanding and involvement in children's language development
